January 30, 2005Wordpress HelpSo, I've spent the better part of the last few hours trying to figure out how to install Wordpress via Fantastico on my control panel and good ole SSG, the compu-tard, can't get through the first bit of it. The idea was to create it in a test directory and play around with a new design and maybe make a full switch over to Wordpress. But, noooooooo, ye humble computer idiot can't figure to save my life. Anyone who knows how to accomplish such a feat and would like to lend me a hand drop me an email. *sigh* UPDATE: I was finally able to figure out how to install it into a sub-directory and of course it was because I was doing something stupid. I'm trying to de-bug some of it now, but for the life of me I can't figure out an easy way to get the links and other html to work. For some reason, the html tags didn't come through right. ANy thoughts? Oh yeah, the url is this link. UPDATE 2: Alright, apparently the reason the links and the text are not rendering as intended is because I exported the MT entries thru Internet Explorer and it screwed up the characters. I re-exported via Firefox and it came out alright. Problem is when I tried to re-run the WP import utility, it recognized all the newly saved posts as already being there and changed nothing. I'm afraid I may have to scrap the whole thing and start over with the install unless someone can tell me a way to fix it.... Adam, I will set it up for you today on my lunch hour if you send me your info again. If I could have found your Cpanel stuff, I would have fixed it by now. I think you would be better off reimporting it which means deleting that table from your MYSQL database, which I happen to know about because I did some tweaking on mine just last week. Let me know if I can help. Posted by: goodsnake at January 31, 2005 11:29 AMPost a comment
