January 29, 2005Winter StormsOld man winter has finally arrived with his expected bite here in the Deep South. Fortunately, Edisto Beach looks to only face a cold, cold rain. The latest regional radar on the Weather Underground shows ice here, but from what I have observed it has only been rain. As I'm three stories up, I figured if there was any signs of ice I might see accumulation on the tree branches just off the deck, and no such (bad) luck. I did notice that the temperature dropped to 31 from 8 to 9 this morning. The wind has some good gusts pretty regularly, and that helps the humid cold cut to your very bones. The ocean looks pretty angry already and high tide isn't expected for another half hour or so. Jeff is up in Greenville, SC, and has promised to keep up the storm blogging for his location. I haven't seen any reports from him since about 1:30 this morning. If he has power and a live connection, I'm sure we'll hear more from him later. The spinning belle's mother in North Atlanta reported sleet early yesterday afternoon, enough to call the father o' spinning belle and request him to head home around 4:30 yesterday. I've done a quick survey of my fellow Jawja bloggers and I don't see much coverage out there. That's expected, of course, because they're mostly likely, A) Still hung over, or B) Still watching cartoons and eating their Sugar Smacks. If you are blogging the winter storm, drop me an email or you can trackback to this post where a link will (magically!) appear. I'll round everyone up later. Stay warm folks!

Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
