January 05, 2005Calling On My NeighborsYes, I have been woefully absent and inadequate in my postings. Yes, I have missed blogging and the blogosphere. Yes, I have some catching up to do. It’s past time to take a stroll through the neighborhood and see how the neighbors are doing. Kelly had one heck of a New Year’s in Vegas. That goose egg shaped bump on her head came from a palatial suite there. I had one of those once; only mine came from a hand dryer in a tiny bathroom at a Phillips 66 in Wichita. We’ll save that story for another day. Lou was witness to Kel's, ahem, fall from grace. And then Vegas took her out, too. Something like that happened to me in Anaheim once. Of course, my ailment was the result of some very bad oysters. In any event, someone need to remind these girls that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Even Laura Bush knows that. Holly has started the New Year with some significant changes. This has been coming for a while and our prayers are definitely with her. Drop by and give her an encouraging word. Speaking of prayers, Key has some interesting plans for a new congregation near her house. If I were her, I’d be careful. It could be one of the good ole snake handling country churches. Eric has done some musing while drinking; really that's some of his best work. In his thoughts, he has matched us all up with drinks. Pour me another, mon, with a Shiner chaser. Stasia went to Manhattan and had a grand time. I wonder if she made it to Don't Tell Mama's and didn't tell her mama.... Rob had a great holiday visit with his daughter and her partner. There is plenty more to look at over at his place in the past weeks. Have a look for yourself. Dax managed to stay standing after being, ahem, insensitive to the tsunami victims. He offers up a curious 2004 wrap up. Sun Tzu advises knowing the mind of your opponent before battle. I'd say it's good to know the mind of your friends, too. This one might help you understand my friend a little better...or not. Sugarmama spent New Year's in Nawlins and came home with a new "friend" who has been allowed to guest post there. Remember that thing about knowing your friend's mind I mentioned earlier about Dax? After reading this one I'm not so sure about that advice.... Kate is buckling down and awaiting the wonderful weather of the Kansas City region--an inch of ice and then snow. Reminds me of the time I was the last flight in to KCI and was able to enjoy the wonders of the "Worst Ice Storm In Kansas City History!" And to think, she moved from Hawaii for this...Friends, minds, you know the spiel... My blog-sis Kelley is MIA, but as sick as she has been lately, I don't blame her. Please join me in sending prayers and good thoughts her way. My blog-mudda took a trip to Florida for New Year's and is now considering becoming a migratory bird. Seeing as I'm enjoying the beautiful South Carolina coast myself right now, I can't say that I blame her. Moxie still hates liberals. No surprise there. You know what's funny though? There are Democrats who don't like them either. There are many more stops I need to make and see how folks are doing, but this is a start. In the meantime, there's a few other things I'd like to get to talking about around here. Posted by Adam H at January 5, 2005 11:06 AM ~ Link Cosmos | Trackbacks (0)Comments
Unfortunately we were there attending a funeral, but still. The weather was gorgeous. Thanks for the link blogson (is that one word or two?), and don't be such a stranger. Posted by: rita at January 5, 2005 11:15 AMWelcome back, Slack! We've missed you! Thanks for the mention, hon. Seriously, glad you're back. ; ) Posted by: Key at January 5, 2005 11:26 AMYou also missed the return of the proselytizing commenter Jim Long, who you shushed quite a while back. I banned him. I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy. Just drunk. Posted by: sugarmama at January 5, 2005 02:43 PMyou're assuming we posted about everything... ;-) Posted by: mandy at January 5, 2005 06:30 PMPost a comment

Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
