October 15, 2004O-O-O-O-OKLAHOMA!Sweet smell of Carolina Jessamine! It has been some time since I participated in this wonderful community called the blogosphere. When you get emails, phone calls, and folks telling you in person that the Tarot card has grown more than a little old, it’s a strong indication that the blog needs some attention. Where and what in the world have I been and been doing? Well, as our friend Lou from the ladies of Tenacious deduced, I have been busily working away at trying to win and secure the affections of a certain young Southern lady. I believe I’ve made good progress, so much so, she has deigned it a fine course to ship me out of state for a bit. We’ll have more on that later, but for now let it suffice to say that this dear Spin Belle and I have passed many an enjoyable hour in each other’s company. Additionally, in my absence, I have taken a job, outside of my field, after months of searching. To be honest, I was nearing utter insanity not working and I finally broke down and took this position. Broke down, you ask? Yes. What kind of position, you ask? Errr, well, I’ve been selling cars. Now, I’ve heard all the stereotypes and clichés about car sales, the salesmen, the dealerships, etc. I’d say that one could confirm half of them and debunk the other half. The experience has certainly been eye-opening and more than interesting. There are plenty of tales to tell—some that might make you cry, and many that will most certainly make you laugh. In many ways, I have been reminded of my days in basic combat training at Ft. Leonard Wood (aka Lost in the Woods). There are hours of “hurry up and wait,” rushes of excitement as you approach a deal, weather extremes, long days, and a growing sense of camaraderie in the midst of an intensely competitive environment. And everyday, you find something to laugh yourself silly. Yes, I have successfully sold. No, I am not leading the month, nor will I. There is a reason for that. The reason is that I’ve only been at it for a week and a couple of days. See, there’s something about that aforementioned Spinning Belle. She saw the look on my face after I finished my first day. My face was so long that John Kerry would’ve looked at me and said, “Damn! Now THAT’s a long face!” To say I was bummed out was quite the understatement. Well, this divine Spinning Belle took it upon herself to find me something—anything---anywhere to get me off that car lot. It’s a good feeling to know you have a personal executive placement person carrying your candidacy to various openings. Within days, she greased the skids. Two hours after sending a resume on a Sunday, I had a call. Within a few days, I received an offer… IN OKLAHOMA! So tomorrow, I’m off to Oklahoma to join the coordinated campaign there. Most, if not all, of the work will be for a Senate candidate there. I’m back in my field—Political Field Ops. Owing to this, I’ll be missing the great Blogtoberfest with my many dear friends, the Jawjabloggers. I’ll hate to miss you guys, however, I may be through ya’lls way within a week after the election. So, I’m off to the trail again. If any of you gentle readers are near the Shawnee/Oklahoma City area, be on the lookout for the SSG at a venue near you. Comments

I would also like to take this time to offer congratulations on using a cuss word in your blog. A REAL CUSS WORD! Not d@mn, or darn, but, finally, a real, live 'damn.' It's definitely a start. Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
