A Single Southern Guy In America

Back In The Saddle Again

I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again

Ridin' the range once more
Totin' my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again

Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin' to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again

Gene Autry

A very good friend of mine told his fiancee the night before they were to wed something about me. That friend is, EK, whom I mention from time to time here. She and I had got to visit at length for the first time during the rehearsal dinner. As he took her back to her car before meeting us groomsmen for drinks, she said to him, "I really like Adam. He seems like a really nice guy."

EK has been known to turn more than a few phrases with his rural background. His reply to her was, "Yeeeeaahhhh. Short of a gay pride parade, he's pretty much at ease in any situation." The post script to this story is minutes after that I called a friend of mine in Cleveland. She answered, "Oh, Adammmmm! You should be here with us right now!"

"Why's that? What are you doing?"

"I'm at a gay pride rally!"

It's been one h#lluva a weekend. One with more unforeseen turns than a drive in the Ozarks on a state highway. At least one of you, gentle readers, know the details (Thanks, Stasia!). All I'll offer is that Saturday morning was a more intense version of last November 29th when I had this to say.

I told you I was bouncing. Speaking of, I've got a Kickball game to go to here in a bit.
