The Bounce

Goodness. I re-read the last post and boy, did I have the blues! As I shared in an email with another friend today, I figured I'd "treat" myself to some blues and beer last night. I guess that came out in the post. Still, today is new and it is absolutely gorgeous here and I can wallow in sorrow or do something much more appealing.

My daddy once told me something about the men of our family. Dad and mom split up when I was just short of fourteen and he is now on his fourth wife (I'm pretty sure this one is the one for him.). Though I've never really thought about it until now, we spent several years when we were both dating. Talk about some odd discussions with your Daddy, try trading dating stories.

There was one point when we both had came out of a dating relationship. We were both a little blue and drinking ice tea and talking. At some point, it got rolled around to what happens when life knocks you down. He said to me, "Son, let me tell you something about your Grandpa and me. We're resilient as hell. Every now and then life knocks you on your back. Some folks will just lie there and hope somebody'll pick 'em up. We're not that way. We may get knocked down, but we bounce back. You've got that in you, too, son. "

I've thought about taking that last post down. It's purpose has already been served; I got it out of me and have gotten some good counsel via emails already. I may leave it because, it's important to remember both the good and the bad times to allow them both some balance and perspective. I'll decide later.

In the meantime, let's get back to having some fun around here, I'm bouncing.
