June 24, 2004Carnival of the Vanities, 92d Edition - A Day Late and a Dollar ShortWelcome to the 92nd edition of the Carnival of the Vanities. Please accept my deepest apologies for being a day late. I'll only offer that sometimes real life collides with blogging at the most inopportune times. In any event, this is the SSG's second Carnival and I hope to host the 144th edition at the same time next year. As is my tradition when the Carnival comes down South, there is always a contest. This year the contests consists of naming famous persons from from Arkansas. Winner gets a prize from the SSG shop. Email me or post your answers and trackback to this entry. With no further adieu, Here comes the Carnival! Famous Arkansan #1: This man from Kingsland was widely revered by a range of his peers that you might not normally expect. Pete from The World According to Pete shares a few new real-life adventures in : RANDOM BITS 13, the latest true-life adventures of Pete: pet store visit, one-armed cashier, meeting a fan, and a real nice poem... Kiril Kundurazieff of Sneakeasy's Joint has A New Respect for Phone Operators. Famous Arkansan #2: This man was rumored to have his picture hung in homes next to Christ and JFK in white families and Martin Luther King in black families. Banana Oil "Fisks Roger Ebert" over Michael Moore's "documentary." Dale Franks of QandO weighs in on the Sullivan-Bush debate. Some people seem to have gotten all asymmetrical over interrogation methods. Alger of BabyTrollBlog plays agent provocateur for an alternate perspective. Mike Pechar delves into the Library Sex Case. On May 18, police received a phone call from a Naperville Public Library and the caller stated that a man was fondling himself while looking at pornography on the Internet in a part of the library where children were present. Solomon of Solomania tackles "The New Threat." Famous Arkansan #3: This man is the only Confederate general to have a statue of him in Washington, D.C. Kevin Murphy asks, "Can anyone explain why lot's of people feel that the Bush John Ray brings us three entries: Dissecting Leftism says Leftists are not all the same but you need to treat them that way. Political Correctness watch has some politically correct fairytales. Greenie Watch says that windy power is another Greenie fad that has blown itself out. Wicked Thoughts has a good story about how to get even. Famous Arkansan #4: This person broke the glass door to the Senate floor by becoming the first female elected senator. Suzy, the Small Town Country Girl, ventures into the BIG CITY with her daughter. Gordie of RoguePundit discusses the upcoming/underway gathering of anarchists in the woods. Pieter Dorsman takes sides on the Sullivan v. Bush debate. Chuck Simmins offers his views on us "Fighting Our Enemy's Battle;" "It's a maxim in military strategy that you don't fight your enemy on their terms. You make every attempt to control the time and place of the battle." MadKane presents a political poem, "Dubya's Plea."
