May 12, 2004Beat Evil, Do Good(This post will stay at the top all day, to see new entries scroll down) As a good soldier, I am also going to help spread the word. In an effort to battle evil by doing good, a number of the writers of the Command Post are encouraging our friends and readers to contribute to the Tom Family Education Trust. You can read all about the Tom Family in Alan's post at the Command Post. In a nutshell, a woman named Susan Tom has a family of 13 children, 11 of whom she has adopted, many of whom suffer from handicaps and diseases. Teenagers Hannah and Xenia were born without legs. Anthony has a degenerative and usually fatal skin disease. Eight-year-old Faith has disfiguring scars and no hair from being badly burned as an infant. Joe, 15, recently passed away from cystic fibrosis. Margaret, 18, helps Susan raise the family. Our goal is to raise $10,000 in three days to support this example of what is good in this world as our way of fighting the evil depicted so clearly by Al Qaeda in their murder of Nick Berg. To donate, click right here and scroll to the Paypal button at the bottom of the entry. My offer for the the Spirit of America contest applies here as well. Hat tip to Michele. UPDATE: We're already to Comments

Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
