A Single Southern Guy In America

May 12, 2004

Here Kitty, Kitty

This one is for the Acidman, long famous for a dislike of cats.

Truth be told, I'm rather ambivalent towards the creatures except for single women who live alone with two or more cats. If you don't understand what that means you probably missed the briefing we got in the lockerroom in 10th grade. I believe it was the second of those briefings.

I just want to add a point from a more objectiv viewpoint.
As a german, I have to admit the way Germany and France reacted towards U.S. government. Of course, Hussein or the Taliban are criminals and should be pursued. I surely donīt agree with those politicians from Europe who didnīt want to communicate with Bush etc. They only achieved to force him and America, Britain and partners to march in Iraq.
The other side of the medal, however, is the fact that America isnīt able to fight terrorism properly. Terrorism doesnīt mean a country is convinced as a united part they should fight against the U.S. or Europe (donīt forget, we have our experiences with terrorism as well).
It is a reaction.
Remember, when the U.S. fought against Russia and supported soldiers of Afghanistan? Those soldiers surely wanted to fight against Russians for the purpose of freedom. But the didnīt experience loyalty from their former aid. Now they had to face years of war after the originate one, only because a lack of advantages America could take of supporting them.
And Iraq? America supported Hussein when he had to fight against Iran and Khumeini. Naturally, Hussein is a bastard, but Americans supported him because of primary interests without deliberating what might be the consequence.
It doesnīt stand to reason that Europe provoked war at Iraq as well. Nevertheless, you canīt just say weīre "pussies". Nobody here said that it was wrong to fight against terrorists or Iraq in special. The questions of concern are:

1) Why do those people refuse to be happy if they are made free?

2) When it is so, where are the reasons or what can be changed?

To 1): Those people donīt want to be happy because they have a different culture than we do (I also have to underline we have the SAME culture, America and Europe).
Nobody can go their and tell them what to do or that they are livin barbaric etc.)
How would we react, if somebody told us to become an Islam? We would fight back.
Thatīs exactly what they are up to.

To 2): There are several reasons, why those people hate us. For example: U.S. troops stationed at Iraq donīt seem to care about anything than "bringing freedom". That is to say, Iraqs culture has been greatly destroyed, people were discriminated and disgraced. How would we react? If somebody came to the U.S. and destroyed the Statue of Liberty, raped women etc.? If someone came to Europe and did similar things?
The reason why it is so: our arrogance. We are convinced (and taught!), our system is the ultimate solution. In reality we only are so wealthy because we all have our modern colonies. We drive to Africa, South America and Asia and take their oil, their coffee, in short: their resources. And that without giving them anything worth it in return. Furthermore, their own interests arenīt respected. What would WE do?
Of course: weīd fight. As they do.

What has to be respected in addition is the fact that those terrorists are poor, uneducated, desperate people. What can someone do in this position?

This all has to be respected. It wonīt help to find a quick solution, we ALL have to think about the origins of hatred.
Iīm not a fiend of America, but I sure am a foe of ignorance and pathetic behaviour.

Regards,

Dan
