A Single Southern Guy In America

Eatin' Good In The Neighborhood

Two things collided last night that seemed a to be a bit if a fitting concidence.

Normally, one wouldn't find too much discussion of what I had for supper on a given day, but last night's meal was special. The brother in law, sister, and I elected to have a staple dish from most rural areas across this country. You prepare it by soaking it in beer, then applying a batter of flour and Cavender's seasoning. You take the marinated and battered strips into a fry daddy and allow them to cook until they reach a scrumptuous golden brown. The main dish is accompanied by some fried potatoes, gravy, and biscuits. A dessert of Blue Bell ice cream is the perfect accompaniement. What is this compelling main dish I've described you ask? We feasted on perhaps the best venison deer I have ever had the pleasure to partake.

After suuper, I began reviewing the 500 plus entries this blog has in an attempt to begin selecting the best short stories and essays to place in a book format. Around this time last year, an interesting idea dreamed up by Meryl Yourish in response to PETA's advertising campaigns began to make the rounds here in the blogosphere. Here idea was to observe on March 15 the first ever International Eat An Animal For PETA Day. I wholeheartedly agreed with her and ate beef last year.

Since we are approaching the first anniversay of International Eat An Animal for PETA Day, I hope that Meryl will consider declaring it an official day in the blogosphere again. While we're at it and Michele is feverishly typing away endorsing God knows how many things, I must wonder if she will endorse International Eat An Animal for PETA Day this year. Michele? We'll be waiting with bated breath for your announcement.

LOL With all the batter and whatnot that you put on it, couldn't you just eat something vegetarian and have it taste the same?? ;)
