A Single Southern Guy In America

For the Love of A Dog

Did you know that five of the seventeen people who have been killed by the wildfires in California were found with the remains of their pets next to them?

Some were found lying next to the pets they had hoped to save...

At the San Diego County morgue, a team of investigators worked with dental records, old X-rays, jewelry, even licenses found on nearby pets in an exhaustive effort to confirm the identities of the people who became trapped in flames...

At least five victims were found with the remains of their dogs at their side.

Wagner said he keeps the animal remains with their owners...

Do you have any pets? A treasured companion of the canine or feline species? Would you risk your life to save theirs? Are you close enough to them that they just know when you're sad, when you're happy, and how to do just the right thing to lift your spirits or even play along?

Hemi is about six months old now and he's coming along quite well. He's learning the tones of my voice and the meanings of different looks, postures, and facial expressions.

If you were in California with the wildfires fast approaching, would you risk your life to rescue your pet?

I would.

Can you blame me?

You betcha, my dog would be the first thing I'd get. My horses they are more important to me than just about anything.

We've only had our dog 3 weeks, but I'd absolutely go back after him. I took him to the vet today, and I noticed that they had stickers for your window to notify the fire department that you have pets and how many. Maybe I should go back and get one.

I would TOTALLY go back and get my dog. He's an amazing little guy, he knows just when I need him to snuggle up next to me and when I need to throw the ball for him incessantly. Ok, I never really NEED that, that's one of his things, but STILL :)

I wouldn't have to go back in for them. They'd be out front waiting on me. My 3-leggers are a tad smarter than me, I'm afriad.
