It's All Out War

As I noted here, there has been a Denial of Service attack on Hosting Matters last night. They have been hit by their third DoS attack today. So if you've been looking for some of your favorite bloggers, that is why they are off the air. Rita has emailed to ask me to let everyone know what is going on and that they should be back up later this afternoon.

UPDATE: I know of many bloggers hosted by Hosting Matters. If any of them would like to create a mirror site until these attacks are resolved, I'll be more than happy to lend them some space on my domain.

AND: Also, it's curious to note that the initial and apparently subsequent DoS attacks were directed at shutting down a pro-Jewish site of some sort. I never actually visited the site after the first attack because I figured it would pretty much be over. However, this is the third attack and it has shut down the server each time. Some have speculated that the group organizing the attacks are Al Qaeda linked. Hosting Matters quickly disavowed thestatement and noted that it was the opinion of the poster.

I want to be careful not speculate as to any links of the source of the attack, but it does seem curiously like a cyber walk-thru before launching a more serious and crippling DoS attack.

They say the blogosphere is where you can get the buzz and the big news first. Wouldn't it be something if we were the test run for their next cyber-terrorism attempt?

Looks like everyone starting to come back online now.

The folks over at Hosting Matters sure deserve a big round of applause & thanks for all their efforts to keep us and the site that's being targeting online.

And a big thanks to you too Adam for helping me spread the word.
