October 17, 2003FREE BLOGS!Kevin over at Wizbang has declared Blogspot Jihad II. And interestingly enough, this time the Movable Type Alliance has an ever greater weapon in its arsenal--free hosting. Apparently, Kevin has found a company that will host you for free! Now that the $60 for a year's worth of hosting excuse is gone, perhaps we'll see an even greater exodus than before. And don't forget what sparked the first Blogspot Jihad--other bloggers will install MT and get your blog up to posting functionality for FREE. In the first one, Dean Esmay did a large number of installs. This time there will be several volunteers to not only do the install MT (not me, I'm too ignorant), but also to get you up and running with your template and bells and whistles. Imagine having your own domain, with your own email, with all the things of owning your own stop on the world wide web. Kevin convinced me to take the plunge last June and I never looked back. And remember if you've been reading blogs but don't have one of your own and have been thinking about it, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a shot. If you're one of those folks who are worried about getting into blogging, remember I was in the same spot last February. I've made friends and met people offline from this site, and it all started back on blogspot and then continued here. Convinced? Head over to Kevin's to see what you need to do.
