Meet My Neighbors

tailgate

If you surf through our neighborhood (tips hat to my drinking buddies from last night), you will have already seen that last night I was fortunate enough to meet up with Dax and Kelley.

What an evening of margaritas, beers, shirt swapping, habla espanol, discussion of blogs, discussion of real life issues, football (Geaux Tigers!), and general debauchery with the only sins being cussing too much.

Dax and Kelley are the third and fourth bloggers (Mike and Rita being 1 and 2) I have had the great pleasure to meet in person. Dax suggested a nice little Mexican restaurant that was centrally located for us all and we were off to meet up.

I was running late, something I learned from Bill Clinton when he was governor of Arkansas, so I called Kelley en route to let her know I was on my way and that she'd know me when she saw a guy carrying a football and wearring a cowboy hat walked in the cantina (It's all about the presentation/branding, right?)

Our cantina for the evening had excellent margaritas. So excellent in fact, that I switched to Negro Modelo cerveza after the first one. Which was followed by a couple of Dos Equis, and then chased by water Bud Light. Given my previous discussion of how you'll know you're getting good Mexican food in the South, I'm sure the place had great food, but we didn't eat.

As the night and the fire water wore on, we became ever bolder, and at one point, even slipped behind the bar to offer the blogosphere the a selection of liquors. In an extra bonus, I had the great honor of talking to the Yeti's sister. Well, actually, the Yeti's phone was answered by his sister which initially made me fear I had interrupted a Yeti suit liasion with a psycho date who felt obliged to answer his phone. The Yeti came to the phone and we passed him around the table. Dax made sure to remind him he was not a Yankee for believing (correctly, I might add) that true BBQ is always pork.

The only downer of the night was when we had to part ways to make paths to our respective casas. My downer became worse as I wandered around lost trying to get back to my mother's house for an hour and a half. As, Dax would say, Just Damn!

If you have never met a another blogger in real life, I strongly advise it. If you thought their writing was good, just wait till you meet them in person. You will be rewarded. So much so, that Kate and I are considering terrorizing Dax tonight at his restaurant. Are you an Atlanta area blogger? Do you want to meet other bloggers? Drop one of us an email and we'll show you offline fun!

Thanks Dax and Kelley. I had a blast and we'll definitely have to do it again. And that right soon.
