A Single Southern Guy In America

Catching Up

Fortunately, I did not have to face the gruesome Atlanta traffic Friday morning since my hotel was so very close to the office. Work was fine, my office here is init's own room, with it's own door, and a nice window so I can see everyone coming down the hall. Luckily, the only offices past mine are the CEO's, and two sales vp's who share a large office. Our COO/Comptroller is just across the hall.

After yet another late day at work, a co-worker and I hit the town in and around Kennesaw and Marietta. We first gave Bahama Breeze a shot. Nice place with an outdoor bar. The weather was just perfect and the lone reggae singer was quite entertaining.

After a little while there, we endeavored to find a place to watch the game and had a more Southern feel. We ended up at the $3 Dollar Cafe which fit the bill to an extent for a single beer. At which point, my compatriot suggested a trip down to the town square in Marietta to go to Hemingway's.

Hands down Hemingway's was my kind of place. The cover band Poor Otis rocked the house with everything from Elvis to David Allan Cole to Puddle of Mudd. It was packed with folks ranging from young professionals to local rednecks to college kids to everything in between. If you are ever in the Atlanta area and you want to party like the South, a trip to Hemingway's is a must.

We turned in early, but you can be certain, I will return.

(Oh, and Texas fans, you know what happened Saturday, so get ready for your meal of crow.)
