August 15, 2003Songsters, Each and All Of YouOkay, I'm a pogue because I haven't been building up the songster contest that Kate and I are jointly hosting. Nevertheless, our contest opens today and we already have our first two entries. Update: There's another one. Are you up to the challenge? Can you create witty alternative lyrics to well known songs? Can you create them and sing them? The blogosphere is watching you at this very moment to see if you can express humor, wit, and use just the right words to make us smile, laugh aloud, or spew milk through our nostrils because of your unmatchable wit. What will it be? Will you regale us with your mad skillz of language or will you whimper quietly into the night not daring to accept the challenge of the goodly Kate and your humble Single Guy In The South. Remeber there are two awards the Katie and the Addie. See the extended discussion in the rules to learn what each are. Kate and I would like to thank all the people who have helped pimp out the contest for us. The rules are re-posted below. Get to writing. Here is the object--take a well known song and re-work it with the words of your choice. The contest begins this Friday and will conclude Sunday at midnight. There will be an award for best re-work of of a song's lyrics (the Addie) and best vocal performance of a re-worked song (the Katie). UPDATE: We've had some requests as to what is the preferred format. I prefer something that Windows Media Player or RealPlayer can play. If you need to zip it, we can unzip it. Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
