August 03, 2003Weekend GetawayI've returned from a short weekend getaway and I feel so much better. It's been a long time since I took a couple of days just for myself to relax, be lazy, do something by doing nothing. It really helps to recharge one's batteries. Maybe these pesky gray hairs will ease their way into oblivion for a year or 37 now. It doesn't look like I've missed too much in the great blogosphere or the real world at large. I am actually grateful for that. I know some bad things have happened in the world over the past few days, but there has been no major, 'breaking news' type tragedies since I left. Oh sure, we're being told that the terrorists are planning more attacks and to be wary on ferries, and you can't transit U.S. airports without a visa, etc.,etc. However, in the woods where I was, there were no ferries. There wasn't an international airport or even an international flight overhead. No terrorists could have followed me; though a black bear and a panther seemed to check my presence out. No sir, I didn't worry about terror--my biggest concern was how to fight off the mosquitoes and get my fire warm enough to boil some old fashioned vegetable beef soup. It was nice to be away from the world made by humans for a bit. Now, I'm back and ready to take it on more than I have been for sometime. Hope all of you had a good weekend as well. Is the ferry at Norfolk even still running? That was the only ferry I ever knew of around these parts. I haven't been over there in a coon's age though. Posted by: Rita at August 3, 2003 05:09 PMOh, a weekend away sounds so nice...haven't had one of those in forever. Glad you had fun! :) Posted by: Giz at August 3, 2003 05:51 PMIt must have been a universal weekend for doing nothing. That is exactly the weekend I planned and I feel so refreshed and ready to tackle the world again now. Posted by: Julia at August 4, 2003 09:22 AMPost a comment

Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
