Bring It

razorbacks.giflonghorns copy.gif

After the thank you poost, it's time to mix things up here a little bit. Since there are a number of Texans or Texas ex-pats that frequent this blog and have this looney idea about BBQ being beef--I've got something just for you. An SEC Hog that will eat your Big 12 brisket Longhorn's lunch.

Still confused? The Razorbacks are playing the Longhorns on Saturday Sept. 13, 11 a.m. and televised on ABC.

Not a Longhorn fan? Doesn't matter--this game is about the state of Texas vs. the state of Arkansas. And Arkansas is up 2-0 since 1991.

The last time Texas dared face the Razorbacks was in the 2000 Cotton Bowl. The Hogs drew and quartered the Longhorns winning 27-6. The last time before that, in a SWC game, Arkansas won as well 14-13.

I'll have you know--we're looking forward to some BBQed brisket right after we take your Longhorns down in Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

You might still have your pre-season Top 10 ranking after you struggle past New Mexico State, but you can kiss it goodbye after 4 quarters of the Hogs.

And don't even try to talk about us going into overtime, where we'll be in Seventh Heaven.

Okay, I started it--flame away Texans.

OH NO YOU DIDN'T!!!!!

Ok, so your RECENT statistics may be correct, but let's go back to 1969 to the #5 game of the century... you got it Arkansas and Texas.. who won? TEXAS!!!!

Now, let's calculate how many Texas football teams were in bowl games last season and how many from Arkansas.....?????? Need to me to answer???? Good FOUR from Texas and ZERO from Arkansas..... Yes, you might have won some games by luck against top 25 teams, but you didn't win again Georgia and you AIN'T GONNA WIN AGAINST TEXAS!

I must admit, I am not a huge Texas fan, but more of a Texas Tech and Texas A&M fan.... I still pull for my good ole Baylor Bears and hopefully we might win more than one game this year.... I SAID HOPEFULLY!!!!!

Raiders are going to kick some A** against NC State too!
GO HORNS!!!!! GO RAIDERS!!!!! GO BEARS!!!!!

Now Holly, I told you to bring it and that's all you can muster? What pathetic attempt to hold up Texas football...

1969--?! Honey, we're playing Saturday the fall of 2003. 1969--that is sooooo 20th century.

Bowl Games? Check yourself! You have to pull the entire state of Texas's bowl appearances together to try to match the Hog's five year bowl count. And you know what--you still don't add up. Factchecked you are--just read on...Last year, UA played in its fifth straight bowl game under Houston Nutt including three New Year's Day bowl appearances in that span

98 Season, Citrus Bowl
99 season, Cotton Bowl
00 season, Las Vegas Bowl
01 season, Cotton Bowl
02 season, Music City Bowl

Winning a few games by luck? You're gonna bring that oald weak charge. The Hogs win because they find a way to win. Always. Observe UA-LSU last season.

Only SEC Western Division School and one of only three SEC schools (Florida and Tennessee) to play in three new year's day bowl games in the last five years.

Last year, The Razorbacks' played the fourth-toughest schedule in the nation (2002), including the toughest slate of any SEC team.

You're more of an Aggie fan? Damn, now I know why you bring it so weak. : )

ok, I am having a bad day and you just made it worse... i will be back in a bit to leave my comments.... smarty pants

Posted by: h at July 23, 2003 01:03 PM

No, actually if I total only THREE of the schools in Texas, I have many more bowl games.... And don't knock my Aggies.... The Aggies and Longhorns are the reason the Southwest Conference was so exciting..... and the reason those two teams are still the favorites to many sports fans

I do have to admit that the Arkansas/LSU game was pretty exciting.....

Univ. of Texas
1997 Fiesta Bowl
1999 Cotton Bowl
2000 Cotton Bowl - yes they lost to you here.
2000 Holiday Bowl
2001 Holiday Bowl
2003 Cotton Bowl

Texas A&M
2001 Galleryfurniture.com
2000 Independence
1999 Alamo
1998 Sugar
1997 Cotton
1995 Alamo - i was at this one so i had to include it.... against michigan.... Aggies won.

Texas Tech
2001 Alamo
2000 Galleryfurniture.com
1998 Independence

And another thing..... you haven't ever seen a more dedicated football fan than a Fightin Texas Aggie......

I'm not much of a football fan but I'll have to put that one on my calendar. Now if we can just keep our players out of jail long enough to play, should be a great game.

Posted by: Rita at July 23, 2003 03:07 PM

Sorry Adam...but I'm gonna have to go with Holly on this one.

Posted by: Kin at July 23, 2003 03:52 PM

I say let you have the football comment. I mean, in truth we all know how much better Texas is anyway, in everything. ;)

Posted by: Ashia at July 23, 2003 04:38 PM

In my sweet Texas drawl, "GO SOONERS!"

Oklahoma could kick the tail out of Ark and Tex.

Posted by: Jen at July 23, 2003 11:22 PM

And it's always a damn good game Jen..... I look forward to OK and TX every season. October 11th is the day this year! I Also look forward to A&M and Tech's game against you guys.....

Posted by: h at July 24, 2003 08:06 AM

Yeah! Football blogging! Adam, I'll be right there watching that game. And I'll be wearing my game shirt. The Horns NEVER lose when I wear my game shirt. Or hardly ever.

Posted by: Courtney at July 24, 2003 03:05 PM

Ashia--I'll take it and y'all remember it. Arkansas defeats Texas.

Jen--okay so Oklahoma beat us in the last Cotton Bowl, but it was 10-3 not quite a tailkicking. I do like to remember the 1978 Orange Bowl though...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-PIG-SOOIE! RAZORBACKS!
