July 07, 2003BBQ Sauce Anyone?I was just curious about this... I've written about the best lunch spot in this town before, Young's BBQ. I have been eating at Young's for almost three years now and only now came up with the idea to try to place their secret recipe BBQ Sauce in the mass market. I've visited with the owner about it and she is excited about the possibilities. I've sourced some firms that can assist in the marketing of the sauce to Wal-Mart and other mass market retailers. What do y'all think? Would you be willing to pay $5 bucks or so for an outstanding barbeque sauce? It isn't the ketchup and sugary based kind of sauce. It's what I call a real barbecue sauce. I could go into the barbecue lingo to describe it, but instead let me just assure you--it's damn good. I'm getting hungry now. I'll be back after I get me some barbecue. Hmm . . . Got me curious now. I don't suppose it's the mustard-based kind of sauce popular in my little corner of the south, is it? 'Course, me sayin' "mustard-based" probably just about gives away my location to a really knowledgeable BBQ fan! Posted by: Joe at July 7, 2003 02:24 PMi lived in NC for all my life and about a year ago moved to St. Louis. i think you can see my delima when it comes to barbecue sauce. i'm not a fan of the ketchupy stuff - and i've been ordering some sauce over the internet from NC. however - when it comes to real pork barbecue, i make my own sauce: 1 cup apple cider vinegar if this Young's BBQ sacue is anything like the above, i would love to see it go on the market. Posted by: ryan at July 7, 2003 03:51 PMYoung's is more of a vinegar base from what I can tell. Of course they haven't shared the recipe with me seeing as how it's family/trade secret of theirs. I just love the blend and want to help these good ole country folks make a little extra and maybe, just maybe, I can get a little bit for my trouble and maybe support this website! Posted by: Adam at July 7, 2003 03:56 PMSounds good to me! Posted by: Brenda at July 8, 2003 07:37 AMhmmm, i am originally from TX and have since moved to NC about 2 years ago.... PORK BBQ??? What in the hell is this? Beef BBQ is the REAL DEAL... and a good SPICY BBQ sauce is what I crave... That mustard, vinegar, pepper what ever is in it shit is HORRIBLE! I have taken to bringing BBQ and sauce back with me from TX and ordering from the internet to save my southern soul. Posted by: holly at July 9, 2003 07:48 AMPost a comment

Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
