July 06, 2003Small World v.1One of the aspects of living in a small town in a small state is how often the small world bug bites. During a recent happy hour an unfamiliar face sat down at the bar near a friend of mine and I. My friend engages him in a bit of conversation. Later the new guy, informs my friend of this: CB: You know your sister in law Paula? DE: Paula..yeah,yeahyeah, I know Paula. CB: Well, that's my sister. My sister is married to your brother. DE: Do what? Adam: Your sister-in-law is his sister. DE: Huh? Adam: Your sister-in-law is his sister-- Barkeep: Your brother is married to his sister-- Adam: Yeah. Barkeep: Yeah, and his brother-in-law is your brother DE: No shit? Well, I'll be damned.

That's small town alright...man, I don't miss that! I always tell people one of the reasons we moved to Fayetteville was so my kids could date someone who wasn't their cousin.
