One of the ladies in my office was in Fayetteville Sunday morning. She reports that she and her boyfriend had to light out of there around 10 a.m. as snow had already begun to accumulate. That's right, we're bracing for a nice round of snow, sleet. ice, and freezing rain. Thankfully, the Jeep is all wheel drive. Unfortunately, I will have no excuse as to why I can't make it to the office in the morning. From KATV's 'Five Live Doppler Radars" the leading edge is closing on Hot Springs. I'll give it a couple of hours and call the dad half of my parental units and see if Lake Hamilton has a chance of becoming a vast hockey rink. As I write this, EmergencyEmail has just informed me of the following: WINTER STORM WARNING FOR TONIGHT THROUGH TUES MORNING. WINTER STORM WATCH FOR EARLY WED MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. RAIN.SLEET.& FREEZING RAIN WILL DEVELOP ACROSS S. AR TONIGHT. PRECIPITATION SHOULD BECOME A MIXTURE OF SNOW.SLEET. AND FREEZING RAIN. SNOW & SLEET ACCUMULATION COULD REACH 1 TO 3 INCHES & THERE COULD BE ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATION. TRAVEL COULD BECOME EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS. FREEZING RAIN IS LIKELY LATE TUES NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY.WHICH MAY MIX WITH SLEET AT TIMES. SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE. TEMPS SHOULD RISE ENOUGH TO CHANGE PRECIPITATION TO RAIN BY WED AFTERNOON. ROADS.BRIDGES.& OVERPASSES IN THE WARNING AREA ARE SLICK AND HAZARDOUS. ACCUMULATION OF ICE ON ROADWAYS.BRIDGES & OVERPASSES WILL MAKE TRAVEL TREACHEROUS. All this as my birthday on Wednesday approaches. Great. Iced in, no power, plenty of cold on my birthday.
