Birthday '03--Lots of icing, but not on the cake...

Today is my birthday. Like all birthdays (except for last year; spent w/ NLF before I learned who she REALLY was), this one has about as much promise of being a 'happy' one as a French rifle has of being shot in combat. In other words, only by a weird stroke of accident, it might turn out decent. I'll just sum up for you the conditions on your humble correspondent at this time. Yesterday, at home sick, sudden cold, high fever. Fever broke yesterday around 3. Yesterday morning, Dad calls. My uncle had passed away in the night. Road conditions, ice covers the entire state road network except from my town south and east. Forecast: More ice on its way. Work: Trying to complete a mind numbing spreadsheet of 15,000 plus rows. Birthday cake: none. Icing: only on the world. Thoughts of suicide: None. I'm already laughing at how this day has turned out like so many others.

On the upside, have received three email b-day greetings, three calls, and it could be a lot worse--Friends around the state in parts north of here are stuck in their houses. At least, I may be able to go have a b-day beer tonight. However, I will not get my hopes up b/c sure as I do, something else will happen.
