March 07, 2003Southern Food
Seeing as I was home sick yesterday, the eating was not so good. I’m sure that’s why I feel a little weak today. So, I have decided to go eat at Young’s BBQ here in town. I have never blogged about Young’s before, but I should have. Good old fashioned Southern food that just makes a mouth water. It’s a buffet style restaurant with several options for the cooking—some examples of the selections: fired, okra, fried squash, fried chicken, pork chops, corn (on and off the cob), sweet tea, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, chocolate cake, banana pudding, cole slaw, potato salad, dill pickles, hot rolls, corn bread, white beans and ham, and of course, barbeque—complete with their own special sauce. The lady who runs it with her husband are some of the best kind of people you’ll ever meet. She always greets you by your name and asks how you’re doing, how your day has been, etc. It’s like eating at your grandma’s without all the prying questions. I love Young’s BBQ and will be having some today! If you’re ever down my way, you have to be sure to go over to Young’s. Howdy!
Welcome to my humble little corner of the blogosphere! Not too many rules here--love your neighbor, go easy on the brews, and don't shoot the jukebox. Make yourself at home and remember Momma don't like for you to put your feet on the kitchen table.
