The Most Intimate Act

I have often had this debate--what is the most intimate act between humans? Sex, holding hands, kissing, hugging, cuddling? They could all be candidates. However, I have remained fixed to my answer for sometime.

In my humble opinion, the most intimate act two humans can perform together is the kiss. The kiss requires two people. It requires approaching the eyes, those windows to the soul. It requires the meeting and melding of the one place where we can declare love or hate, war or peace. The same special part of the body where we eat, drink, and sometimes breathe. The mouth is arguably the most closely demostratively place that illustrates the full range of human passion. It is the place where medicine enters to heal us and prayers to God are offered. It is a special place on our bodies that requires more sharing and trust when viewed in its pure practice. Nothing else requires the utter sharing and cooperation as when two people kiss.

Yes, the intimacy of a kiss is unrivaled as the most intimate act between humans.
