May 22, 2003Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie--FOR REAL!
As you have read, I was off to Ft. Smith yesterday for work items. On my way back, it occurred to me that a great going away present for a good friend of mine who is leaving the company would be some of the great Arkansas wines made in Altus, Arkansas. So I steered off the interstate onto the curvy two lane road for the five mile trip to the Post Familie Vineyards. After getting the farewell gift, I started to drive away when it struck me--I had heard that the reality series with Paris and Nicole was being filmed in the area. I raced back in to talk to the folks about what they've heard. After taking my notes (handy little notebook), I decided I'd ease on over to the business district and collect some more impressions from the locals. I parked at City Hall looked to my left and fell into shock--there was Paris, Nicole, and the film crew in the back of their pink Ford pick-up truck (the segment where they painted the trucks pink ought to be interesting) posing for a group picture. Across the street in the little city park, a picnic was set. I walked a few steps and saw Mayor Veronica Post walking out with a gentleman from City Hall. I studied him for a moment and realized it was an old acquaintence of mine, the director of the state film office. We exchanged the warm greeting of "long time, no see" while the mayor climbed into the back of the pickup for another picture with the cast and crew. Joe and I strolled up and down the street looking in shop windows; he kept an eye on the film preparations, and I looked for Paris and Nicole sightings. Eventually, we settled into Kelt's Pub for a few pints. By now I have learned that the picnic setting was a gathering for the Paris and Nicole and the townfolk to say goodbye to each other. When that segment airs, you may see me in the background. After a bit, a friend of mine from Little Rock who works with Joe arrived to take in the scene. Joe left to tend to some of the crew's needs, and Scooter and I ordered up some of the best pub food ever. Interestingly enough, Paris and Nicole breezed in and out the pub often and when they finished filming the farewell picnic, they came into the pub with some of the friends they had made while in Altus. After a bit, I saw Paris leave and head down to the bar a few doors down called Alligator Ray's. Knowing the night was still young and getting to the bar before a large crowd showed up for $2 dollar pitcher night might afford me the best opportunity to actually meet Paris, I tabbed out, grabbed Scooter, and headed down the street to Alligator Ray's. We walked in and Paris was on the third barstool from the front end of the bar. To order a drink, there was a well area right next to her. Scooter and I walked over, I stood next to Paris and ordered a pitcher. When the pitcher arrived, I poured me a glass and decided that it was now or never to talk to Paris. I took a pull of liquid courage and introduced myself. What followed was truly amazing. Paris is amazingly down to earth and kind. We talked for a good fifteen minutes before another friend of hers came by. Charming, graceful, and defiant at her friends from LA and people in the media which had her painted as a girl who had "never made her bed and ordered room service all of her life." I was truly impressed. She is a beautiful lady and from what I could see her heart was in the right place. When the series airs, I'll see if this was a change brought about in her from the weeks she had spent in Altus or if she has always been such a fine person. I sincerely hope it is the latter. However, if it is a recent change of heart, I give the credit to the people of Altus, Arkansas. I'm sure I'll post more about this evening later. To sum the story up for now--I got a picture with Paris, with Paris and Nicole, and with Paris's chihuahua, Tinkerbell. And, yes, I'll post them! Also got their autographs and made a few new friends. Paris actually asked for and accepted my email addy and this blog's web address. We shall see. We shall hope! Posted by Adam H at May 22, 2003 08:57 AM ~ Link Cosmos | Trackbacks (0)Comments

But in Reality she turned out to be a Sweetheart with a wildside to her. Posted by: Phil at December 9, 2003 01:20 AMHi! I am so happy to hear that Paris is a good person, I expected that all along. Can't help to envy you... I am a 21 year old woman from Sweden and i LOVE "The Simple Life" and I watch it as often as possible, as well as I love the SWEET girls Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Gosh, they are just SOOO beautiful! Posted by: Petra at January 21, 2004 05:12 PMThat must have been nice meet them. I never really watched the show, the parts I did I though were funny. They seem really sweet. I think it would be neat to talk with the girls. I dont know, or care if whatever the media says is true. None of my buisness actually. It would be just fun to talk to them though! Oh and Tinkerbell is so sweet looking! I want to hug her! Well, maybe someday ill might meet one of the girls and ill get to talk to them. They seem fun and yeah, kinda wild...but so am I. Oh and I thinkits stupid and unfair for poeple to put down someone they dont know just because they are jealous or whatever their problem may be. All the things being said about the girls reminds me of the hell hole I lovingliy call high school. Only much worse. So im babbleing on...I think ill stop. I like your site btw, you seem really interesting. If you get a chance you should email me. It would be fun to chat with you! -Katie-

Paris Hilton is so hot i cant beleive someone doesn't fuck you every night Posted by: levi at June 16, 2004 09:41 PMLOVE em! I had heard of Paris Hilton about a year being she became well known. Both of them remind me of myself. I'm 21 in the Philly area and I'm always trucking to NY in my stilettos and mini skirts. Their style is so close to mine it's scary. I haven't met them yet but I have a feelin we will cross paths and all I want to say to them is: "live whatever way makes YOU happy and keep your head up. DON'T berate yourselves . . . leave that up to the critics."
